Corrections policy

We aim to be right, and to say so plainly when we are not. If you think an article, chart or calculator contains an error, an out-of-date figure or a misleading statement, please tell us.

How to report a problem

Email [email protected] with the article title or address, the statement or figure you are questioning, and, if you can, a link to the official source. You do not need to give your name.

What we do

  1. We check the claim against the official source.
  2. If it is wrong or out of date, we fix the article, calculator or chart and update its “last reviewed” date.
  3. If the error could have affected a decision (for example, a wrong threshold or deadline), we add a short note to the article saying what was changed and when.
  4. If we think the original is right, we reply with the source we relied on.

We aim to respond to reports within a few business days. Urgent issues, such as a wrong deadline, are fixed first.
